Introduction
This book is an interesting publication,
coming from our Swaminarayan Sampraday in
which Dr. Swami Satyaprasad Dasji, Ph.D,
(Vedantacharya) has geniunely attempted to bring
out the inherent significance of vast number of
‘Religious Rites’ performed by the adherents of
the Sampraday. In this book, learned saint has
provided a deep thoughts into the various aspects
surrounding the observance of these rites and
has offered explanations relating to their scientific
importance and significance. The author has
also extensively quoted the vedic passages which
may be considered as the base or authority for
the conduct of many of our religious practices;
for example putting ‘tilak’, or wearing ‘kanthi’;
and more importantly for proper performance of
‘pooja vidhi’ (procedure of worship), a regular
