All the above spiritual texts uphold the view<br />

that the ‘Urdhva Pundra’ shall be applied using<br />

the tip region of the fingers, starting from the base<br />

of the nose passing through the forehead region<br />

of the face, and terminating at the top of the forehead,<br />

i.e, near the parting of hair.<br />

FITNESS<br />

The precise postion where the round<br />

shaped ‘Tilak’ along with ‘Urdhva Pundram’ is<br />

applied, is called the ‘CENTER OF ORDER’ or<br />

‘AGNA CHAKRA’. When the person who applies<br />

Thilak on his forehead on the Agna Chakra<br />

or Center of Order, mixed with sandalwood or<br />

any other type of prescribed sacred clay, the mind<br />

of such person attains a state of total calmness or<br />

tranquility. By cultivating this practise regularly,<br />

one finds it easier and relatively simpler to concentrate.<br />

If one were to follow the signs of<br />

anatomy, the two sacred nerves ‘IDA’ and<br />

‘PINGALA’ pass through the forehead region of
