Houston Christian High School Middle School Invitational
Our athletes did a fantastic job at the HCHS Invitational this past Saturday. The
running conditions were the toughest of the season, but we persevered. These are the

Runners of the Week
This week’s runners of the week are Jordan Reeves and Jason Nania.
Jordan Reeves is a great role model for the other members of the team. Her
dedication and discipline is a part of her success. This is an attitude that is
prevalent on the team.
Jason Nania is new to the cross country team this year. He is a solid runner
and a positive addition to the team. Jason is always at practice and is
improving every week.
Team Pictures
We will have team pictures this Thursday morning, 9.30 at 7:15. Please come looking
fabulous and with a big smile on your face wearing your cross country uniform. We will

have more picture forms available at practice tomorrow morning. They’re also attached
to this email and available on the Cross Country page on www.pinoak.us.

HISD Invitational Meet
Saturday, October 2, 2010 (8 th grade and 7 th grade teams)
TC Jester Park, 8:30 AM
The HISD Invitational has been changed from Butler Stadium to TC Jester Park. The
meet will begin at 8:30 AM. I’d be surprised if it lasted past noon.
Order of Races:
1. 7 th grade girls – A
2. 7 th grade boys – A
3. 8 th grade girls – A
4. 8 th grade boys – A
5. 7 th grade girls – B
6. 7 th grade boys – B
7. 8 th grade girls – B
8. 8 th grade boys -- B
The top seven runners for the team will be placed in the ‘A’ race; all other runners will run in the ‘B’ race.
The schools in Pin Oak’s zone are Johnston, Lanier, Pershing, Welch, West Briar, and TH Rogers.
Transportation to the HISD Invitational
There will be a bus provided for this meet. If you’d like to ride the bus, you must be at Pin Oak by 6:45. The
bus will leave by 7:00 AM. If you ride the bus to the meet but will not ride it back to Pin Oak, you must
inform Ms. Leahy or Ms. Baltazar that you are leaving.
Parents, if your child is riding the bus you must pick them up promptly at Pin Oak. We will have the
athletes call their ride once we leave TC Jester Park. It’s about a 20 minute drive from there to Pin
Oak. Ms. Baltazar and Ms. Leahy HAVE to wait with every child until they are picked up. Please let
the coaches get on with their weekend and see their families as soon as we arrive back at Pin Oak from
the meet. We won’t have access to the building, so we will all be waiting outside until everyone is
picked up.
Parent Volunteers
We would be happy to have help from parents at the meets. We will need healthy snacks and drinks for the
kids after the races. If you’re interested in helping, please contact Ms. Baltazar or Ms. Leahy.
Thank you to all of the parents that helped us out at the HCHS with pop-up shelters, snacks,
water, and cheering! You all help make it such a positive experience for our runners.
Pin Oak Invitational
If you’re available to help at the Pin Oak Invitational, please let either of the coaches know. We need course
marshals, help with the water station, awards, and managing runners coming through the chute.
If you took pictures of your child at the meet this weekend (or will take pictures at any future meets) and
you’d like to share them, please send them to Ms. Leahy or Ms. Baltazar. We can use the pictures at the
athletics banquet at the end of the year as well as on the athletics page on the Pin Oak website. Cross
country: represent!

Homecoming
Pin Oak students have an opportunity to ride on the Homecoming Bus to and from the homecoming game.
Ms. Baltazar is planning on riding with the kids. If any of the kids want to ride home with their parents from
the game, parents need to notify me by Thursday. The kid will then need to sign out with Ms. Baltazar during
4 th period. Everyone else is required to ride the bus back to Pin Oak. The athletic dept. is asking parents to
be on campus at 7pm to pick up the kids.
Team Shirts
You may order cross country t-shirts to wear on spirit days and at meets over your uniform. If you’d like to
have a shirt, I have a few smalls left. Shirts are $15 each. Shirts are long sleeve, white cotton. There is still
time! Money from shirt sales goes toward paying meet entry fees.
Staying Healthy
Remember to eat well, drink plenty of water and get enough sleep!! Cut out the carbonated beverages.
