OUR HERITAGE 

Smiths Medical worked with the pioneers of IVF in the design, development 

and manufacture of their Embryo Transfer Catheters. Such was the attention 

to detail in the design and quality of manufacture, that the Wallace Embryo 

Transfer Catheter is still the most popular catheter worldwide and remains 

the gold standard, used in more than 80 countries and associated with the 

highest pregnancy rates. 1-11 

NEW PRODUCT DEvELOPMENT 

We are constantly striving to advance our products and in turn improve 

pregnancy success rates. The success of SureView ® ultrasound embryo 

replacement catheter can be attributed to combining all the benefits of the 

classic Wallace Catheter, with the unique ability to view the whole of the 

catheter under ultrasound. 

Building upon the proven design of the soft Wallace classic catheter, Smiths 

has developed a complete new range of Sure-Pro catheters. The Sure-Pro 

products combine the softness of the original catheter along with the benefits 

of the supporting element and a pre-formed outer. The Sure-Pro Ultra, 

ultrasound visible catheter is also part of the new range, utilising SureView ® 

technology.

Smiths Medical’s catheter manufacturing has been certified against the 

internationally recognized quality standards ISO9001:2000, ISO13485:2003 and 

the European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC, enabling us to apply the CE 

mark to our devices. Our products also have 510K approval from the United 

States Food and Drug Administration. Quality System Approval Certificates are 

available upon request.
