General description<br />

Oakura Beach is a wide sandy beach backed by small dunes and extends <strong>the</strong> length <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

township. Offsh<strong>or</strong>e are cobble and boulder reefs.<br />

8 km south <strong>of</strong> New Plymouth.<br />

Excellent - There are many access po<strong>in</strong>ts along this section <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> coast, both from roads<br />

and walk<strong>in</strong>g around <strong>the</strong> coast at low tide. Access to right bank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Oakura<br />

River via C<strong>or</strong>bett Park, to left bank through Oakura township.<br />
