General description<br />

Two semi-natural <strong>coastal</strong> lakes on <strong>the</strong> Pouakai r<strong>in</strong>g pla<strong>in</strong> approximately 4 hectares <strong>in</strong> size.<br />

The marg<strong>in</strong>s have a variety <strong>of</strong> native plant<strong>in</strong>gs with reed swamp and <strong>areas</strong> <strong>of</strong> flax. The area<br />

is an imp<strong>or</strong>tant water bird habitat. 6<br />

2.5 km south <strong>of</strong> P<strong>or</strong>t Taranaki.<br />
