The best path for the inoculation of supplemented<br />

sawdust is via sawdust spawn.<br />

However, the direct path of grain spawn-tosupplemented<br />

sawdust is also successful,<br />

provided several precautions are taken. Inoculations<br />

of supplemented sawdust via grain<br />

spawn are prone to self-heating, a phenomenon<br />

leading to contamination. This is especially<br />

true w<strong>it</strong>h Shi<strong>it</strong>ake. As supplemented sawdust is<br />

consumed by mycelium, exothermic reactions<br />

emerge at various rates. Regardless of the species,<br />

the incubating bags must be spaced apart<br />
