Short Story Competition - Salisbury Cathedral

Terms and conditions
1. The story must be between 1500 - 2000 words long.
2. The story must be suitable for children aged between 10 – 15 years old.
3. The competition is open to UK residents over the age of 15 (except as in note 13 below).
4. The closing date for entries is 5.00pm on 31 December 2012.
5. Entries are by email only to: stories@salcath.co.uk
6. Entries need to be sent as a word document or pdf attachment.
7. Please complete an entry form to submit with your story. We cannot accept submissions
without the entry form.
8. Your script should be typed/word processed on single-sided, clearly numbered
A4 sheets.
9. Include the title of your story on each page but no other identifying marks as your story
will be judged anonymously.
10. Only one story permitted per person.
11. The prize-winner and runner-up will be telephoned by 16 January 2013 and their
names will be published on Salisbury Cathedral, Orion Children’s Publishing and
Cornelia Funke’s websites.
12. No corrections can be made after submission.
13. Employees of Salisbury Cathedral and Orion Children’s Publishing, or their family
members, may not enter the competition.
14. The judges are Cornelia Funke, Edward Probert (Canon Chancellor, Salisbury Cathedral),
Sarah Rickett (Director of Learning and Outreach, Salisbury Cathedral) and Nina
Douglas (Orion Children’s Publishing). The judges’ decision is final and no
correspondence will be entered into.
15. Judges will consider a range of factors including interpretation of the theme, use of
language, atmosphere, appropriateness to the target age-group and originality.
16. If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, we
reserve the right to offer the prize to a runner-up or to re-offer the prize in any
future competition.
17. This competition is administered by Salisbury Cathedral.
