health due to its high value protein. <strong>Silk</strong>worm larval<br />

powder is a blood glucose-lowering agent or anti<br />

diabetic agent. Also an anti-aging and antihypertension<br />

De-oiled pupa powder contains important minerals<br />

like Na, K, Ca, and P. vitamins, especially vitamin B2,<br />

nicotinic acid, folic acid and vitamin B1. Pupal<br />

powder is generally used as human food<br />

supplement as food additive in countries like Korea,<br />

China and Japan.<br />

Identified the botanical extracts for control of root<br />

rot and mealy bug: 5% Citronella oil performed<br />

better towards controlling of root mealy bug<br />

(Paraputo sp.) followed by 5% Neem oil and 5%<br />

Neem leaf extract without any adverse effect on<br />

silkworms rearing.<br />

The technology is being popularized to generate<br />

income by the farmers to compensate less income<br />

from sericulture due to low leaf yield during<br />

establishment period of mulberry garden. Mulberry<br />

in combination with green gram, cowpea, mustard<br />

and amaranth during March-May, June-Aug, Sept-<br />

Nov and Dec-Feb seasons have been identified to<br />

fetch additional income by the farmers.<br />

Extent of coverage: 3.5 acres covered under<br />

validation<br />

Vermicompost has been produced successfully by<br />

utilizing sericulture and other farm waste. The<br />

technology has been passed on at farmer’s level<br />

and 18 such vermeries have been developed by<br />

farmers in Jammu region.<br />

Dhaincha (Sesbania rostrata) with 5 MT FYM and 1<br />
