The pedal free solar energy operated spinning has
the capacity to spin 325 cocoons and gives 280 g of
Katia yarn per day. It helps in reduction of
drudgery, produces better quality yarn and
improves economic return to reelers.
Cooking device has been developed to cook the
cocoons effectively and reduce labour requirement.
Widely accepted by handloom weavers in TN, AP
and Karnataka.. Many weavers have adopted the
technology by procuring the equipment under XI
Plan schemes. Application is filed for Patent.
Popularization of technology is under progress.
The technology is adopted by Dyers who are using
natural dyes for their silk fabrics. Further
