29 Shoot rearing system Two feeds per day in shoot rearing system is
recommended for bivoltine seed crop.
30 Leaf fortification Leaf fortification with Phosphorus, Zinc and
Cholesterol has improved the rearing as well as
Technique for
control of Stem
Borer Zeuzera indica,
a pest of muga host
plants, Som and
Soalu.
Developed an integrated package of micronutrients
for seed crop mulberry cultivation and
young and late age silkworm seed crop rearing.
The package helps to enrich the soil which is
deficient in Boron, Zinc and Copper which helps in
increase in quality leaf yield of 10 – 20%.
Ethanol extract of botanicals Withania somnifera at
5%, or extract of Parthenium hysterophorus (5%)
can be used for improving pupation rate and egg
recovery of the silkworm without affecting the
rearing parameters.
Ethanol extract of Cassia tora (5%) is identified for
improving the silk content of silkworm without
affecting the grainage parameters.
Standardized the centrifugal method of Mother
Moth examination at low infection level during
microscopic examination.
During male moth preservation high humidity
maintenance (80 – 85%) maintain the male potency
upto 3 rd pairing resulting in high fecundity, less
unfertilized eggs in CSR2 and CSR4 breeds.
The long term preservation technique developed
for cross breed eggs of Nistari(Nistari x NB4D2 and
Nistari x CSR2) and multivoltines Nistari hybrids
(Nistari x M12W and M12W x Nistari) can be
preserved up to 70 and 50 days, respectively under
double step preservation without effecting
hatching and crop yield.
Incubation techniques based on the effective
accumulated temperature points (EATP) for the
prediction of exact day of hatching were
standardised for popular bivoltine silkworm breeds
and their hybrids.
Demonstrated in farmer’s fields, DOS farms and
MSSO units. The technique is in practice. Integrated
method by applying plant extract, chemical the
pest can be controlled to the tune of 95%
