ANGELS AND WOMEN<br />

Upon the forehead of one was stamped Murder,<br />

<strong>and</strong> upon the other, Lust.<br />

"She is mine," said Murder,<br />

"We will share her," said the other.<br />

"Agreed; we will share her when the tide<br />

turns ."<br />

"O God," I groaned, "save my deluded<br />

mother, <strong>and</strong> carry away these dreadful<br />

creatures, when the tide turns."<br />

With that the forms slowly vanished <strong>and</strong><br />

I awoke. The meaning of the vision is not<br />

revealed. I am perplexed, yet must I again<br />

betake myself to slumber, for trying scenes<br />
