5.5 +iPING — Send a PING Request to a Remote Server<br />

Syntax: <strong>AT+i</strong>PING:<br />

Connection<br />

Sends a two-byte ICMP PING request packet to the remote host<br />

defined by host.<br />

Parameters: =Logical name of the target host or a host IP address.<br />

Command Options:<br />

The host name may be any legal Internet server name, which can<br />

be resolved by the iChip‘s DNS (Domain Name Server) settings.<br />

The host name may also be specified as an absolute IP address<br />

given in DOT form.<br />

Result Code:<br />

I/ Upon successfully receiving an ICMP PING reply from the host,<br />

the round trip time in milliseconds is returned (RTT). iChip allows<br />

up to milliseconds for a PING reply. If a reply is not<br />

received within milliseconds, iChip sends two more PING<br />

requests, allowing milliseconds for a reply on each of the<br />

requests before reporting an error.<br />
