33.12.5 +iHSTN — iChip LAN Host Name<br />

Syntax: <strong>AT+i</strong>HSTN=host Permanently sets iChip‘s Network Host Name.<br />

Parameters: host = Symbolic Host Name string.<br />

Command Options:<br />

host = ‘‘ Empty: Do not attempt to register a<br />

symbolic host name. If the iChip LAN is<br />

already registered in the DNS, the symbolic<br />

name will typically be cleared only after the<br />

last DHCP lease assigned to this iChip has<br />

expired.<br />

host = NAME will be used to negotiate the<br />

registration of the iChip LAN on the LAN‘s<br />

DNS server via the DHCP server. Host name<br />

negotiation will be implemented only during<br />

the next DHCP session. Typically this session<br />

will occur after a hardware reset or by issuing<br />

the <strong>AT+i</strong>DOWN command. Note that in<br />

order to achieve a successful host name<br />

registration, the iChip LAN must utilize a<br />

DHCP (DIP = 0.0.0.0) and the DHCP server<br />

must both exists and be configured to<br />

dynamically add entries to the local DNS<br />

server.<br />

NAME will also be included in all IP<br />

registration method formats.<br />

Default: Empty. No network host name defined.<br />

Result code:<br />

I/OK If host is empty or a string.<br />

I/ERROR Otherwise.<br />

<strong>AT+i</strong>HSTN? Report the current host name.<br />

The reply is followed by I/OK.<br />

<strong>AT+i</strong>HSTN=? Returns the message ‗string‘.<br />

The reply is followed by I/OK.
