On slopes of the Cordilleran I'lateau frota the eastern sile of the Continental Divide,
In Alberta and AMontana, southward to New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and southern
California.
CALIFOaRNIA.-Panamint Mountains, at from 7,100 to over 10,000 feet, and on summits
of Inyo Mountains. On east slopes of Sierras at about 9,3:00 to 10,000 feet, extending
in a belt from head of Tuttle Creek, southeast of Mount Whitney, to Cottonwood Creek;
thence southward to slopes of Monache I'eak. Occurs also at Mono Pass (east of
Fi(,. (0. Pints flexilis: a, cone scale and seeds.
Yosemite V'alley) at 8,000 to 9,000 feet; at head of Mammoth Creek (T. 4 S., R. 27
E.), at 9,500 feet, and at Kearsarge la'ss On western slopes of Sierras along south side
of South Fork of Kings River, at 10,500 to 12,000 feet. Reappears in southern cross
ranges on Mount P'inos, at 8.400 to 8.826 feet; in Sierra Madre Mountains, at 8,000
to 10,000 feet ; on summits of San Gorgonio and Santa Rosa mountains, in San Bernardino
Mountains, and on north side of Grayback Mountain, at about 9,300 to 11,800
feet, while at Dry 1.ake it appears at about 9,000 feet, and in San Jacinto Mountains at
9,000 to 10,500 feet.
