aspect, which is of Yama as the power which resists the manifestation of<br />
the Divine.<br />
Here Yama represents the rock-most bottom of the inconscient. But as<br />
we know, beneath this rock-most bottom, the bottommost part of the<br />
inconscient, there is the superconscient - but Yama has not yet realised this.<br />
As we will see in the succeeding cantos and books, there is a very very<br />
interesting development here. As Savitri proceeds, confronting the God of<br />
Death, the God of Death is made to realise himself, and for the first time he<br />
is being given an opportunity to realise his true self. Under Savitri's grace as<br />
it were, the God of Death realises he is really the God of Love masquerading<br />
as the God of Death. In other words, Death has really no essential reality.<br />
Behind it there is some other truth.<br />
