APPLICATION FORM FOR APB REFEREE AND JUDGES
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Dear applicant, thank you for downloading confidential application form to apply for
appointment as an AIBA Professional Boxing and World Series of Boxing Referee and
Judge.
BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS
AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY.
1. In these terms and conditions the following expressions shall have the following
meaning:
“Applicant” means each person who applies via this online application for
appointment as an APB/WSB Referee and Judge;
“Application” means the application to be submitted by each Applicant pursuant to
this online application system;
“APB” means AIBA Professional Boxing;
“APB World Title Bout” means a bout in which two boxers compete for the world
title of one of the APB weight divisions;
“APB/WSB R&J” means a person who has been appointed by AIBA as a referee
and judge and is eligible to act as a referee and judge at APB and WSB events;
“APB/WSB R&J Examination” means the examination to be passed by each
Candidate prior to his/her appointment as an APB/WSB R&J;
“APB/WSB R&J Seminar” means a seminar organized by AIBA for all Candidates;
“Candidate” means each Applicant that has been selected by AIBA (or an affiliate of
AIBA) attend the APB/WSB R&J Seminar;
“Code of Conduct” means the code of conduct to be signed by each APB/WSB
R&J and which sets out the basic rules regarding their conduct at APB and WSB
events;
“National Federation” means the national boxing federation/association/union in a
country as recognized by AIBA;
“National Level APB/WSB R&J” means an APB/WSB R&J that has been
designated by AIBA as eligible to act as a R&J at National Level Events;
“National Level Event” means any event that is designated as a national level
event by AIBA (or an affiliate of AIBA);
“Pro R&Js” means referees and judges that have acted as referees and judges for
professional boxing organizations (other than APB and WSB);

“Service Agreement” means the agreement between AIBA and each APB/WSB
R&J setting out the terms of their appointment as an APB/WSB R&J;
“World Level Event” means any event that is designated as a world level event by
AIBA (or an affiliate of AIBA);
“World Level APB/WSB R&J” means an APB/WSB R&J that has been designated
by AIBA (or an affiliate of AIBA) as eligible to act as a R&J at World Level Events
“WSB” means World Series of Boxing;
2. Applicants must be either (i) a 1 star, 2 star or 3 star AIBA R&J or (ii) a R&J with
experience in professional boxing in order to be considered for appointment as an
APB/WSB R&J.
3. The submission of an Application shall not be regarded as an admission on the part
of AIBA that the Applicant has satisfied all or any of the conditions for appointment as
an APB/WSB R&J.
4. All sections of the application form must be completed. Incomplete applications will
not be processed. Please note that each Applicant will be required to attach a copy of
the first page of his/her passport (with picture) and a photo of himself/herself. Please
read carefully Photograph Requirements. Only digital photographs will be accepted,
and photographs must adhere to the following specifications. Photographs that do not
meet the specifications will be rejected:
4.1. Photograph must be recent (taken within the last six months) to ensure an
accurate likeness of the applicant;
4.2. Photograph taken must be in color. Black and white or monochrome
photographs are not accepted;
4.3. Photograph must be taken with even lighting; there should be no reflections
or shadows on the face or head;
4.4. Background of the photograph must be plain white and must have good
contrast against the individual’s face and hair.
4.5. Headgear, hair bands or dark glasses are not allowed, except for religious or
medical reasons.
4.6. Photograph of applicant should be face-on, showing the top of the head to
the neck, with both eyes visible and eyebrows not covered. Side profiles are
not accepted.
4.7. Photograph must not be altered in any way.

4.8. Photograph must be in jpg/jpeg format with 300dpi resolution, and file size
less than 100KB. Photograph should measure 512 x 400 pixels.
4.9. Please name the photograph in the following format:
FamilyName_GivenName.jpg e.g. Michael_Jackson.jpg
5. By submitting an Application you are declaring that the information you have provided
is factually accurate and correct. Should any information provided in the Application
be found to be false, inaccurate or misleading, AIBA reserves the right to reject your
Application or, if you have already been appointed as an APB/WSB R&J, to revoke
your appointment and to terminate the Service Agreement.
6. The decision with respect to the appointment of APB/WSB R&Js rests with AIBA.
AIBA’s decision shall be final.
7. Following review of your Application by AIBA, you will be informed via email whether
or not you have been selected as a Candidate.
8. All Candidates shall be required to attend an APB/WSB R&J Seminar. Candidates
shall be responsible for all costs associated with attending the APB/WSB R&J
Seminar, including visa costs and travel costs (international, domestic and local).
While the Candidates are attending the APB/WSB R&J Seminar, AIBA shall provide
the Candidates with accommodation and three meals per day.
9. Upon completion of the APB/WSB R&J Seminar, each Candidate must pass the
APB/WSB R&J Examination in order to be eligible for appointment by AIBA as an
APB/WSB R&J.
10. Upon successfully completing the APB/WSB R&J Examination, in order to be formally
appointed as an APB/WSB R&J, each Candidate shall be required to sign a Service
Agreement and the Code of Conduct.
11. Upon signing the Service Agreement, no APB/WSB R&J shall be permitted to act as
a R&J or in any other capacity (office holder, employee, agent, promoter, coach,
second etc.) for any professional boxing organization (other than APB and WSB) or

any other combat sports organization. Non-compliance with this condition shall lead
to the immediate revocation of the individual’s appointment as an APB/WSB R&J and
shall cause such individual to be ineligible to be appointed as an APB/WSB R&J in
the future.
12. As a general rule:
- only 3 star AIBA R&Js and Pro R&Js shall be eligible to be designated as a World
Level APB/WSB R&J (provided such R&Js have passed the APB/WSB R&J
Examination);
A World Level APB/WSB R&J shall be entitled to a fee of US$500 (five hundred
United States Dollars) for each World Level Event at which he/she is appointed by
AIBA (or an affiliate of AIBA) as a R&J. The fee payable to a World Level APB/WSB
R&J shall be increased to US$1,000 if one of the bouts of the World Level Event is an
APB World Title Bout.
- 1 star and 2 star AIBA R&Js shall be designated as National Level APB/WSB R&Js.
AIBA has full discretion to depart from this general rule when designating APB/WSB
R&Js.
National Federations will establish the fee payable to National Level APB/WSB R&Js
for National Level Events. The fee will be determined by reference to the average
salary rate in that National Level APB/WSB R&J’s country. All of the National Event
R&Js’ travel expenses including local transportation, transportation to the event and
back, accommodation, 3 meals a day during event shall be covered by the National
Federation.
13. AIBA will provide each World Level APB/WSB R&J a minimum of 1 (one) World Level
Event per month.
14. For World Level Events, AIBA, or its affiliate, shall organize and shall be responsible
for the World Level APB/WSB R&Js’ travel expenses, including visa costs, local
transportation, flights/rail travel to/from the World Level Event, accommodation, and 3
(three) meals per day.
15. At the discretion of AIBA, payment of the fee to the World Level APB/WSB R&Js shall
be made either in cash or by electronic bank transfer. In the case of electronic bank

transfer, AIBA shall not be responsible for the payment of any associated bank
charges.
16. It is agreed and understood by the Applicant that each APB/WSB R&J shall be an
independent contractor and the arrangement between AIBA and the APB/WSB R&J
shall not result in an employer/employee relationship. APB/WSB R&Js shall not be
entitled to any benefits provided by AIBA (and/or its affiliates) to its employees. An
APB/WSB R&J will, at all times, hold himself/herself out as, and represent
himself/herself to be, an independent contractor, rather than an employee of AIBA.
17. Neither national/federal, state or local income taxes nor payroll taxes of any kind or
any social charges shall be withheld or paid by AIBA on behalf of any APB/WSB R&J.
Each APB/WSB R&J shall be responsible for the payment of all taxes for
remuneration received from AIBA (and/or its affiliates), including national/federal,
state and local income or self-employment tax and any other taxes.
18. All personal data provided by an Applicant when completing an Application will be
treated in strict confidence. By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions you agree that
AIBA may transfer and disclose personally identifiable information about you to its
Affiliates for the purpose of processing the Application. Personal data in respect of an
Applicant shall only be transferred to such Applicant’s National Federation if the
Applicant is selected as a Candidate. Each Applicant’s personal data will be
processed in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection 1992.
