APPLICATION FORM FOR <strong>APB</strong> REFEREE AND JUDGES<br />
TERMS AND CONDITIONS<br />
Dear applicant, thank you <strong>for</strong> downloading confidential application <strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong> to apply <strong>for</strong><br />
appointment as an <strong>AIBA</strong> Professional Boxing and World Series of Boxing Referee and<br />
Judge.<br />
BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS<br />
AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY.<br />
1. In these terms and conditions the following expressions shall have the following<br />
meaning:<br />
“Applicant” means each person who applies via this online application <strong>for</strong><br />
appointment as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB Referee and Judge;<br />
“<strong>Application</strong>” means the application to be submitted by each Applicant pursuant to<br />
this online application system;<br />
“<strong>APB</strong>” means <strong>AIBA</strong> Professional Boxing;<br />
“<strong>APB</strong> World Title Bout” means a bout in which two boxers compete <strong>for</strong> the world<br />
title of one of the <strong>APB</strong> weight divisions;<br />
“<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J” means a person who has been appointed by <strong>AIBA</strong> as a referee<br />
and judge and is eligible to act as a referee and judge at <strong>APB</strong> and WSB events;<br />
“<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Examination” means the examination to be passed by each<br />
Candidate prior to his/her appointment as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J;<br />
“<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Seminar” means a seminar organized by <strong>AIBA</strong> <strong>for</strong> all Candidates;<br />
“Candidate” means each Applicant that has been selected by <strong>AIBA</strong> (or an affiliate of<br />
<strong>AIBA</strong>) attend the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Seminar;<br />
“Code of Conduct” means the code of conduct to be signed by each <strong>APB</strong>/WSB<br />
R&J and which sets out the basic rules regarding their conduct at <strong>APB</strong> and WSB<br />
events;<br />
“National Federation” means the national boxing federation/association/union in a<br />
country as recognized by <strong>AIBA</strong>;<br />
“National Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J” means an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J that has been<br />
designated by <strong>AIBA</strong> as eligible to act as a R&J at National Level Events;<br />
“National Level Event” means any event that is designated as a national level<br />
event by <strong>AIBA</strong> (or an affiliate of <strong>AIBA</strong>);<br />
“Pro R&<strong>Js</strong>” means referees and judges that have acted as referees and judges <strong>for</strong><br />
professional boxing organizations (other than <strong>APB</strong> and WSB);
“Service Agreement” means the agreement between <strong>AIBA</strong> and each <strong>APB</strong>/WSB<br />
R&J setting out the terms of their appointment as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J;<br />
“World Level Event” means any event that is designated as a world level event by<br />
<strong>AIBA</strong> (or an affiliate of <strong>AIBA</strong>);<br />
“World Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J” means an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J that has been designated<br />
by <strong>AIBA</strong> (or an affiliate of <strong>AIBA</strong>) as eligible to act as a R&J at World Level Events<br />
“WSB” means World Series of Boxing;<br />
2. Applicants must be either (i) a 1 star, 2 star or 3 star <strong>AIBA</strong> R&J or (ii) a R&J with<br />
experience in professional boxing in order to be considered <strong>for</strong> appointment as an<br />
<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J.<br />
3. The submission of an <strong>Application</strong> shall not be regarded as an admission on the part<br />
of <strong>AIBA</strong> that the Applicant has satisfied all or any of the conditions <strong>for</strong> appointment as<br />
an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J.<br />
4. All sections of the application <strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong> must be completed. Incomplete applications will<br />
not be processed. Please note that each Applicant will be required to attach a copy of<br />
the first page of his/her passport (with picture) and a photo of himself/herself. Please<br />
read carefully Photograph Requirements. Only digital photographs will be accepted,<br />
and photographs must adhere to the following specifications. Photographs that do not<br />
meet the specifications will be rejected:<br />
4.1. Photograph must be recent (taken within the last six months) to ensure an<br />
accurate likeness of the applicant;<br />
4.2. Photograph taken must be in color. Black and white or monochrome<br />
photographs are not accepted;<br />
4.3. Photograph must be taken with even lighting; there should be no reflections<br />
or shadows on the face or head;<br />
4.4. Background of the photograph must be plain white and must have good<br />
contrast against the individual’s face and hair.<br />
4.5. Headgear, hair bands or dark glasses are not allowed, except <strong>for</strong> religious or<br />
medical reasons.<br />
4.6. Photograph of applicant should be face-on, showing the top of the head to<br />
the neck, with both eyes visible and eyebrows not covered. Side profiles are<br />
not accepted.<br />
4.7. Photograph must not be altered in any way.
4.8. Photograph must be in jpg/jpeg <strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>at with 300dpi resolution, and file size<br />
less than 100KB. Photograph should measure 512 x 400 pixels.<br />
4.9. Please name the photograph in the following <strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>at:<br />
FamilyName_GivenName.jpg e.g. Michael_Jackson.jpg<br />
5. By submitting an <strong>Application</strong> you are declaring that the in<strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>ation you have provided<br />
is factually accurate and correct. Should any in<strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>ation provided in the <strong>Application</strong><br />
be found to be false, inaccurate or misleading, <strong>AIBA</strong> reserves the right to reject your<br />
<strong>Application</strong> or, if you have already been appointed as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J, to revoke<br />
your appointment and to terminate the Service Agreement.<br />
6. The decision with respect to the appointment of <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&<strong>Js</strong> rests with <strong>AIBA</strong>.<br />
<strong>AIBA</strong>’s decision shall be final.<br />
7. Following review of your <strong>Application</strong> by <strong>AIBA</strong>, you will be in<strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>ed via email whether<br />
or not you have been selected as a Candidate.<br />
8. All Candidates shall be required to attend an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Seminar. Candidates<br />
shall be responsible <strong>for</strong> all costs associated with attending the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J<br />
Seminar, including visa costs and travel costs (international, domestic and local).<br />
While the Candidates are attending the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Seminar, <strong>AIBA</strong> shall provide<br />
the Candidates with accommodation and three meals per day.<br />
9. Upon completion of the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Seminar, each Candidate must pass the<br />
<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Examination in order to be eligible <strong>for</strong> appointment by <strong>AIBA</strong> as an<br />
<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J.<br />
10. Upon successfully completing the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J Examination, in order to be <strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>ally<br />
appointed as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J, each Candidate shall be required to sign a Service<br />
Agreement and the Code of Conduct.<br />
11. Upon signing the Service Agreement, no <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J shall be permitted to act as<br />
a R&J or in any other capacity (office holder, employee, agent, promoter, coach,<br />
second etc.) <strong>for</strong> any professional boxing organization (other than <strong>APB</strong> and WSB) or
and<br />
any other combat sports organization. Non-compliance with this condition shall lead<br />
to the immediate revocation of the individual’s appointment as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J and<br />
shall cause such individual to be ineligible to be appointed as an <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J in<br />
the future.<br />
12. As a general rule:<br />
- only 3 star <strong>AIBA</strong> R&<strong>Js</strong> and Pro R&<strong>Js</strong> shall be eligible to be designated as a World<br />
Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J (provided such R&<strong>Js</strong> have passed the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J<br />
Examination);<br />
A World Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J shall be entitled to a fee of US$500 (five hundred<br />
United States Dollars) <strong>for</strong> each World Level Event at which he/she is appointed by<br />
<strong>AIBA</strong> (or an affiliate of <strong>AIBA</strong>) as a R&J. The fee payable to a World Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB<br />
R&J shall be increased to US$1,000 if one of the bouts of the World Level Event is an<br />
<strong>APB</strong> World Title Bout.<br />
- 1 star and 2 star <strong>AIBA</strong> R&<strong>Js</strong> shall be designated as National Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&<strong>Js</strong>.<br />
<strong>AIBA</strong> has full discretion to depart from this general rule when designating <strong>APB</strong>/WSB<br />
R&<strong>Js</strong>.<br />
National Federations will establish the fee payable to National Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&<strong>Js</strong><br />
<strong>for</strong> National Level Events. The fee will be determined by reference to the average<br />
salary rate in that National Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J’s country. All of the National Event<br />
R&<strong>Js</strong>’ travel expenses including local transportation, transportation to the event and<br />
back, accommodation, 3 meals a day during event shall be covered by the National<br />
Federation.<br />
13. <strong>AIBA</strong> will provide each World Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J a minimum of 1 (one) World Level<br />
Event per month.<br />
14. For World Level Events, <strong>AIBA</strong>, or its affiliate, shall organize and shall be responsible<br />
<strong>for</strong> the World Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&<strong>Js</strong>’ travel expenses, including visa costs, local<br />
transportation, flights/rail travel to/from the World Level Event, accommodation, and 3<br />
(three) meals per day.<br />
15. At the discretion of <strong>AIBA</strong>, payment of the fee to the World Level <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&<strong>Js</strong> shall<br />
be made either in cash or by electronic bank transfer. In the case of electronic bank
transfer, <strong>AIBA</strong> shall not be responsible <strong>for</strong> the payment of any associated bank<br />
charges.<br />
16. It is agreed and understood by the Applicant that each <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J shall be an<br />
independent contractor and the arrangement between <strong>AIBA</strong> and the <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J<br />
shall not result in an employer/employee relationship. <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&<strong>Js</strong> shall not be<br />
entitled to any benefits provided by <strong>AIBA</strong> (and/or its affiliates) to its employees. An<br />
<strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J will, at all times, hold himself/herself out as, and represent<br />
himself/herself to be, an independent contractor, rather than an employee of <strong>AIBA</strong>.<br />
17. Neither national/federal, state or local income taxes nor payroll taxes of any kind or<br />
any social charges shall be withheld or paid by <strong>AIBA</strong> on behalf of any <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J.<br />
Each <strong>APB</strong>/WSB R&J shall be responsible <strong>for</strong> the payment of all taxes <strong>for</strong><br />
remuneration received from <strong>AIBA</strong> (and/or its affiliates), including national/federal,<br />
state and local income or self-employment tax and any other taxes.<br />
18. All personal data provided by an Applicant when completing an <strong>Application</strong> will be<br />
treated in strict confidence. By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions you agree that<br />
<strong>AIBA</strong> may transfer and disclose personally identifiable in<strong><strong>for</strong>m</strong>ation about you to its<br />
Affiliates <strong>for</strong> the purpose of processing the <strong>Application</strong>. Personal data in respect of an<br />
Applicant shall only be transferred to such Applicant’s National Federation if the<br />
Applicant is selected as a Candidate. Each Applicant’s personal data will be<br />
processed in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection 1992.<br />
