Manhole tops in traffic surfaces of all types
represent a continuous aggravation because
usually, they are not flush with the surface
and form bumps. The reason for this is
almost always the subsurface.
The problem
If covers are located too high, the street
pavement has sunk while the pit and cover
remain unchanged. If the covers are too
low, either the compensating layer of
mortar below the cover or the entire pit
crown has been destroyed. In both cases,
repair is required.
Solution
The differing behavior of the pit, roadway
and cover can only be compensated when
the cover frame is located in the asphalt

roadway and supported by it. This is the
decisive characteristic of the
BUDALEVEL ® frames with their
generously dimensioned wide collars. It is
processed together with a concrete guide
ring giving it a telescoping-type function.
BUDALEVEL ® compensates the current
asphalt level in each case and can then be
rolled in together with it for a flush,
supporting surface.

Solution
The differing behavior of the pit, roadway
and cover can only be compensated when
the cover frame is located in the asphalt
roadway and supported by it to the greatest
possible extent. This is the decisive
characteristic of the conically designed
BUDAPLAN® frames with their large
contact surfaces. These frames can be
inserted into a conically cut opening above
the pit crown – flush with the surface of
the roadway and filled with mortar or
asphalt. The conical form ensures that the
major portion of the traffic load is
transferred to the roadway.
