Flexibility<br />

Th e fl exibility dimension of adaptability is the half that <strong>in</strong>volves<br />

your personal attitudes toward yourself, others, and the situations you<br />

face. It <strong>in</strong>dicates your degree of will<strong>in</strong>gness to change your perspective<br />

and/or position, when appropriate. Examples follow of a lower and<br />

higher level of adaptability <strong>in</strong> a person, and the way each one is likely<br />

to respond.<br />

Here’s a brief summary of some of these key diff erences between<br />

such people:<br />

Higher fl exibility attitudes <strong>in</strong>dicate . . .<br />

• a higher level of security and sense of personal worth or well-be<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and those of others<br />

• a tendency to be reactive to people, conditions, or events—oft en<br />
