Organise annual National Disability Conference<br />

– National Disability Conference programme meets<br />

participants’ expectations<br />

All conference participants will be invited to complete an<br />

evaluation and 80% of the respondents report that the<br />

information received during the conference met their<br />

expectations and providers.<br />

Target achieved<br />

The 2nd National Disability Conference was held on 11 June 2012 in<br />

Auckland. 86% of the respondents who completed an evaluation<br />

form reported that the information received at the conference<br />

“mostly met,” “met” or “exceeded” their expectations.<br />

Output 4 – Provide effective, informative seminars and educational presentations and training programmes on the work of HDC on the<br />

Act and Code.<br />

Educational presentations meet requesters’ expectations<br />

1. Provide 25 educational presentations by 30 June 2012.<br />

2. 96% of people who requested the presentations report that the<br />

presentation met their expectations.<br />

Intensive training programmes meet participants’ expectations<br />

1. Provide two intensive provider education programmes<br />

by 30 June 2012.<br />

2. 90% of participants report that they are satisfi ed with the<br />

content and delivery of the programme.<br />

Targets achieved<br />

53 educational presentations were made – this represents 212% of<br />

the annual estimated volume. 48 of 53 educational presentations<br />

have received feedback.<br />

100% (48 of 48) of the requestors who provided feedback reported<br />

that the presentation met or exceeded their expectations.<br />

Output 5 – Develop initiatives to improve the quality of the disability workforce.<br />

Encourage use of Work Safe Card by disability service provides<br />

across the country for employing support workers – Work Safe<br />

Card assists disability service providers in ascertaining suitability<br />

of the support workers for working with disabled people<br />

Preliminary consultation work with disabled consumers and<br />

disability service providers will be undertaken to develop a new<br />

initiative entitled “Work Safe Card.” This initiative is designed to<br />

issue people working with, or wanting to work with, disabled<br />

people with a Work Safe Card if they meet a certain safety and<br />

suitability criteria (e.g., no previous criminal record or no prior<br />

employment history of serious misconduct, etc).<br />

Three intensive provider education programmes were provided.<br />

97% (66 of 68) participants reported that they were satisfi ed with<br />

the content and delivery of the programmes.<br />

Target achieved<br />

Preliminary consultation work with consumers with<br />

disabilities has been completed. One further phase of assessment<br />

will be undertaken before deciding whether or not to progress<br />

this initiative.<br />

Output 6 – Provide high quality submissions addressing matters that affect the rights of health and disability services consumers.<br />

Recipient agencies are satisfi ed with the quality of<br />

HDC’s submissions<br />

1. A survey of people receiving submissions from HDC<br />

will be undertaken.<br />

2. 95% of respondents rate that they are satisfi ed with the<br />

quality of HDC’s submissions.<br />

Targets achieved<br />

17 submissions were made.<br />

Feedback forms were received in relation to eight of 17 submissions.<br />

100% (8 of 8) respondents rated that they were satisfi ed with the<br />

quality of HDC’s submissions.
