Montana State University Invasive Plant Identification Guide •Information: Introduced from Europe. •Life cycle: Perennial. Hawkweed, Meadow - Hieracium caespitosum Hawkweed, Mouse‑ear - Hieracium pilosella Asteraceae (Sunflower Family) Category: Prohibited Noxious •Root: Shallow fibrous roots, stolons and rhizomes. •Leaves: Basal rosettes have hairy, narrow, spatula-shaped leaves, dark green above and light green below. •Stems: Rosettes produce 10 to 25 flowering stems up to 90cm tall. Stems have short, stiff hairs and few, if any, leaves.
