have children, <strong>the</strong>re has <strong>to</strong> be sex (and of course <strong>the</strong> kadosh pattern of sex <strong>in</strong> Scripture is<br />

heterosexual marriage.)<br />

The church’s myth that we cease <strong>to</strong> be sexual be<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>world</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>come</strong> was a real<br />

stumbl<strong>in</strong>g block <strong>to</strong> me <strong>in</strong> my teenage years. I’m glad it was only a myth.<br />

So <strong>the</strong>n how do we make sense of Luka’s account where Yahushua’s reply is a bit more<br />

detailed?<br />

Luka /Luke 20:34-35<br />

34 And Yahushua answer<strong>in</strong>g said <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>m, The children of<br />

<strong>the</strong> olam hazeh (this <strong>world</strong>) marry, and are given <strong>in</strong> marriage:<br />

35 But those who shall be accounted worthy <strong>to</strong> obta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

olam haba (<strong>world</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>come</strong>), and <strong>the</strong> resurrection from <strong>the</strong> dead, nei<strong>the</strong>r<br />

marry, nor are given <strong>in</strong> marriage:<br />

36 Nei<strong>the</strong>r can <strong>the</strong>y die any more: for <strong>the</strong>y are like <strong>the</strong><br />

heavenly malachim (angels); and are <strong>the</strong> children of Eloah, be<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> children of <strong>the</strong> resurrection.<br />

37 Now that <strong>the</strong> dead are raised, even Moshe showed at<br />

<strong>the</strong> bush, when he called <strong>the</strong> Master YHWH <strong>the</strong> Eloah of<br />

Avraham, and <strong>the</strong> Eloah of Yitzchak, and <strong>the</strong> Eloah of<br />

Yaakov.<br />

38 For He is not <strong>the</strong> Eloah of <strong>the</strong> dead, but of <strong>the</strong> liv<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

for all live <strong>to</strong> Him.<br />

The account<strong>in</strong>g process still takes place <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> tw<strong>in</strong>kl<strong>in</strong>g of an eye. Dur<strong>in</strong>g that<br />

account<strong>in</strong>g process <strong>the</strong>re’s no time for marriages. The ma<strong>in</strong> event at that time is <strong>the</strong><br />

account<strong>in</strong>g. If scripture verifies itself and is harmonious with itself (which it does and<br />

is), <strong>the</strong>n v. 35 cannot be a negation of marriage! “To obta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> olam haba” refers <strong>to</strong><br />

someth<strong>in</strong>g that occurs after <strong>the</strong> resurrection which occurs after <strong>the</strong> account<strong>in</strong>g of those<br />

worthy. So three events <strong>in</strong> this order:<br />

1. <strong>the</strong> account<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

2. <strong>the</strong> resurrection,<br />

3. <strong>the</strong> olam haba (<strong>the</strong> <strong>world</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>come</strong>).<br />

In v 35 “Nei<strong>the</strong>r marry nor are given <strong>in</strong> marriage” -- our marriage practices <strong>in</strong> this current<br />

<strong>world</strong> have a lot of rough spots. Our au<strong>to</strong>nomy has often resulted <strong>in</strong> disaster. (Even <strong>in</strong><br />

this <strong>world</strong>, arranged marriages have better longevity than non-arranged marriages). So<br />

whe<strong>the</strong>r we choose our marriage partners <strong>in</strong> this fallen <strong>world</strong> or <strong>the</strong>y are chosen for us by<br />

our parents <strong>in</strong> this fallen <strong>world</strong>, <strong>the</strong> matches for <strong>the</strong> most part are imperfect. Yahushua <strong>in</strong><br />

His wisdom knows best. So who we end up married <strong>to</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>world</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>come</strong> has <strong>to</strong> be
