Appendix A - Falcon Diagnostic Tool<br />

To connect the LAN cable to an <strong>MGC</strong>-<strong>100</strong> unit:<br />

1. Ensure that the Control LAN cable is connected to the RJ 45 Connector port.<br />

2. Connect a LAN cable to the I/O port on the back of any IP+ card to be tested.<br />

To run the diagnostic tests at the MCU level:<br />

1. Connect to all the MCUs that must be tested.<br />

2. In the Test Options box, select the test mode. For a detailed description of the three<br />

modes, see “Test Options Box” on page 1-71.<br />

For a description of how to connect the ISDN Loopback or LAN cables, see<br />

“Connecting the ISDN Loopback and LAN cables” on page 1-75.<br />

At the MCU level, the LAN test is automatically run and therefore, the IP Test fields<br />

must be filled in. For a detailed description of the IP Test fields, see “IP Test Box” on<br />

page 1-72.<br />

3. Select a test mode in the Test Options box. For a description of the test selection<br />

options, see “Test Selection” on page 1-72.<br />

4. Click the Run button. The test results appear in the Test Results pane as the tests occur.<br />

For a detailed description of the Test Results pane, see “Test Results Pane” on<br />

page 1-72.<br />

To run diagnostic tests at the card level:<br />

Once you are connected to an MCU, you can expand the MCU tree to display its cards.<br />

This enables you to run the diagnostic tests on individual cards without having to run the<br />

test series on all the cards that are installed. You can set multiple tests to run at once, but<br />

they will run serially rather than simultaneously.<br />

The LAN test and the ISDN Loop test are automatically run at the MCU level<br />

testing, so connect the ISDN Loopback and LAN cables to the MCU before<br />

running the tests. For more details, see “Connecting the ISDN Loopback and<br />

LAN cables” on page 1-75.<br />
