Setting Aliases Tab Options EARLY FIELD TRIAL Chapter 10 250 Sniffer Adaptive Application Analyzer The Aliases tab lists the user-defined aliases you have created. Use this tab to specify alternate names (aliases) for different network entities. Figure 10-5. Aliases Tab NOTE: The aliases entered on this tab affect data display in the Quick Select window. They do not affect data shown in the postcapture display window. To set aliases for data in the postcapture window, use the Tools > Options > Protocols tab. See Setting Protocol Aliases for the Postcapture Display on page 196. The Aliases tab includes the following fields: Type lets you select which element you would like to assign an alias. Options include IP Address, MAC Address, TCP Port, UDP Port, VLAN ID, IP Protocol, PVC (ATM – WAN/ATM SuperTAP streams), DLCI (Frame Relay – WAN/ATM SuperTAP streams), MPLS (that is, an MPLS label), GROUP_IP Address, GROUP_MAC Address, GROUP_TCP Port, GROUP_UDP Port, GROUP_VLAN ID, GROUP_IP Protocol, GROUP_MPLS.
EARLY FIELD TRIAL Setting Quick Select Options The Quick Select window displays these aliases in the Statistics panel and Create/Edit Filters dialog box for easy identification during analysis and troubleshooting. NOTE: User-defined settings are stored in the alias file (aliases.adr), which is located at C:\Program Files\NetScout\Sniffer Adaptive Application Analyzer\bin. Preconfigured settings are stored in the aliases.xml file at the same location. To create an alias: 1 From the Alias tab, select the type of Alias you would like to create from the Type: drop down list. 2 Enter the IP address, port, or protocol in the Address field. 3 Assign and enter a name in the Alias field and click the Add button. 4 If you are creating a Group alias, the Alias field remains populated with the existing Group alias. You can enter a new member of the Group and click the Add button to add it to the Group alias. 5 Click OK. User’s Guide 251
