Using the Host Table Tab EARLY FIELD TRIAL Chapter 8 212 Sniffer Adaptive Application Analyzer The Host Table collects each network node’s traffic statistics. For LANs, the Host Table tab accumulates MAC, IP network, IP application, IPX network, and IPX transport-layer information. By selecting one of the toolbar buttons, you can view traffic as an outline or detail table, or as bar or pie charts showing Top 10 statistics. For WANs, the Host Table tab accumulates link layer (for example, DLCI), IP network, IP application, IPX network, and IPX transportlayer information. For ATM circuits, the Host Table also includes an ATMCNX view that lets you view ATM traffic by VPI.VCI The Host Table may be sorted by any of its statistical variables, in either ascending or descending order. To sort a column, click on the column heading. Click a second time to sort in reverse order. Select a layer from the drop down list. Click the plus icon (+) to show protocol information and the minus icon (-) to hide the protocol information. See Using the Host Table Toolbar on page 213 for information about viewing the Host Table data in a variety of formats. Figure 8-23. Host Table (Outline View)

Host Table Toolbar Raw Capture Mode Postcapture Analysis Icon Name Description Outline Shows traffic count statistics for each network node, provides a quick summary of total bytes and packets transmitted in and out of each network node. Detail Shows traffic count statistics for each network node, providing a quick summary of the higher layer protocol type and its traffic load transmitted in and out of each network node. Top N Bar Shows the 10 busiest host nodes in real time. Top N Pie Shows the top 10 busiest conversation node pairs as relative percentages of the total load of traffic in a graphical bar chart format. Sort Click to sort data.
