Die Flughafenbetreiberin wird mit diesem Projekt den<br />
Flughafen Zürich als Begegnungszentrum und Wirtschaftsstandort<br />

Dreistufiger Wettbewerb im Endspurt<br />
Fünf Architekturbüros haben es bis in die finale Phase des<br />
dreistufigen, öffentlichen Architekturwettbewerbs geschafft:<br />
• Asymptote Architecture (USA)<br />
• Dürig AG (Schweiz)<br />
• Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop (Japan)<br />
• Xaveer De Geyter (Belgien)<br />
• Zaha Hadid Architects (Grossbritannien)<br />
Die nächsten Schritte<br />
Die verbleibenden Teams haben den Auftrag, ihre Entwürfe<br />
bis Mitte Dezember <strong>2009</strong> zu überarbeiten. Der Architekturwettbewerb<br />
endet mit der finalen Jurierung am 13./14.<br />
Januar. Dann wird die 13-köpfige Jury, bestehend aus Vertretern<br />
von Unique sowie renommierten Fachleuten aus der<br />
Schweiz und dem Ausland, das Siegerprojekt erküren. Der<br />
Baubeginn ist für das Jahr 2012 vorgesehen.<br />

<strong>2010</strong> Calendar – Impressions of Zurich <strong>Air</strong>port<br />

An investment of around one billion Swiss francs is<br />
planned for the project over the next few years. Unique<br />
(Flughafen Zürich AG) will plan, coordinate and<br />
allocate all development and implementation tasks itself.<br />
With this project the airport operators will significantly<br />
expand Zurich <strong>Air</strong>port into a conference centre and<br />
commercial location.<br />
Three-stage competition nears finish line<br />
Five architecture firms have made it through to the final<br />
phase of the three-stage, open competition.<br />

Next steps<br />
The remaining finalists must now revise their designs<br />
by mid-December <strong>2009</strong>. The competition will conclude<br />
with the final jury decision on January 13/14. Consisting<br />
of representatives from Unique as well as renowned Swiss<br />
and international experts, a 13-member jury will choose<br />
the winning project. Construction is scheduled to begin<br />
in 2012.<br />
