Air Winter 2009/2010
«Zurich 2010» is the most complex large-scale project underway at Zurich Airport since the fifth construction phase. Numerous construction sites and protective boarding attest to the significant changes set to shape Zurich Airport over the next two years. Included in the «Zurich 2010» project are changes concerning the Schengen Agreement. A number of related sub-projects, such as the remodelling of the arrivals hall, the connecting corridor between the arrivals hall and Dock B, bus gates B01-10 and the international transfer zone D, have already been completed and are in operation. Target: easier and more comfortable The «Zurich 2010» project, however, does not focus solely on the Schengen Agreement. In centralising the security checks and renovating Dock B, the quality and user-friendliness of Zurich Airport will be increased for all passengers. In short, the project aims to make departures, arrivals and layovers easier and more comfortable. The partitioning and capacity upgrade of the Skymetro shuttle service is also a part of the «Zurich 2010» project.
Höhere Qualität dank «Zürich 2010» Higher quality thanks to «Zurich 2010» airport world Dock B Dock B is currently under renovation and is scheduled to be back in operation by the end of 2011. Demolition work is already well underway. This structural renovation is a crucial part of the whole «Zurich 2010» project, as its flexible layout will offer significant operational advantages. For example, the improvements will make possible the simultaneous handling of both Schengen and non-Schengen passengers on two floors. The airport’s appeal as an excursion destination has also been taken into consideration, with an observation terrace planned on the roof of the dock. Security check building To coincide with the opening of the new Dock B the security check building will also near completion. With the centralisation of security checks and controls, all passengers and airport staff members will be screened before gaining entrance to the Airside Center. As a result, passengers will have more time to take advantage of the comprehensive shopping opportunities and gastronomic services available. Centralising security checks and controls will also allow Zurich Airport to reduce operating costs. winter 2009/2010 31
