courage of creation and the obsession for universal form the finest
tradition of the Romanian romanticism’’ 1 .
He was not destined to teach, but he had a vocation for universality,
and he was unquestionably the greatest Romanian philosopher of the
interwar period. Blaga remains for posterity, as he was known by the
people who have been living for several years in his shadow, "having the
grandeur of a Gothic cathedral” 2 .
