Babies under one year<br />

Toys and equipment <strong>for</strong> babies should be washable<br />

to reduce the risks of cross-infection and be washed<br />

after each use.<br />

Play items <strong>for</strong> babies should have no loose or<br />

removable parts that might pose a choking hazard.<br />

Suggestions include:<br />

• stable items to practise standing and items to<br />

climb on and crawl through<br />

• washable rattles, shakers, blocks and cuddly toys<br />

to manipulate<br />

• heavy cardboard books, brightly coloured mobiles,<br />

music and wind-<strong>up</strong> toys to look at, listen to and<br />

reach <strong>for</strong>.<br />

Children between the age of one and two years<br />

Suggestions <strong>for</strong> this age gro<strong>up</strong> include:<br />

• equipment <strong>for</strong> climbing on, crawling through and<br />

sliding down<br />
