The Montero Sport is the first in its class to showcase a fully-integrated
information and entertainment system which features GPS
Navigation,Vehicle Information Display, and Multimedia Entertainment
System in one convenient package.
With this user-friendly module, you can easily find your way through
various urban and rural areas through the built-in GPS navigation function
and check the real-time statistics of the vehicle like fuel consumption,
average speed, drive range, atmospheric pressure, outside temperature,
altitude, and tire pressure. The Multimedia Entertainment System ensures
versatility in function for any media you use it with: for DVDs, for iPod
(through iPod connector), or the USB port.
Lastly, its Bluetooth connectivity function with mobile phones or devices
enables the occupants for hands-free telephone conversations and a
much safer drive along the way.
2.5-Liter 4D56 Direct Injection Diesel with Variable Geometry Turbo
2H (2WD high range)
When cruising down the highway or just going across town,
2H mode shifts you into rear-wheel drive for smooth, quiet,
fuel-efficient performance.
4H (4WD high range)
When the weather turns bad and the roads get rough, switch
to 4H mode for added traction. The dynamic front / rear torque
split adjusts between 33:67 and 50:50 to give you greater control
for high-speed driving.
Hybrid-Type LSD (GTV only)
The hybrid-type LSD gives excellent off-road
response, combining the torque sensing benefit
of helical gears and speed-sensing of a
viscous coupling unit, all designed to work
together with ABS.

Variable Geometry Turbo Technology : The Mitsubishi 2.5-Liter 4D56 DOHC 16-valve Common Rail Direct Injection diesel engine is now
fitted with the Variable Geometry Turbo technology which reduces lag time and increases overall efficiency across the entire RPM range.
Low to Mid Engine RPM (Fig.1) : During low to mid engine rpm ranges, the exhaust gas volume is sparse. The movable vanes
of the VGT “close” to create a narrow passageway causing the exhaust gas to accelerate and spin the turbine blades faster. In a
non-VGT type, the low volume of exhaust gases moving in a “wide” passageway will result to slow air velocity making the turbine
spin slower thus turbo lag will be experienced.
High Engine RPM (Fig. 2) : During high engine RPM, the exhaust gas volume is dense. The movable vanes of the VGT open up
to create a wider passageway to cut down exhaust backpressure resulting to higher turbine speed and boost level.
Super Select 4WD
Mitsubishi’s Super Select system not only features a center differential lock that delivers outstanding off-road performance.
It also controls torque distribution to the front and rear in 4H mode for superior handling and easy operation in a broad
range of surfaces from paved roads to slippery trails. Furthermore, the shift-on-the-fly system lets drivers react immediately
to poor road conditions without stopping.
4HLc (4WD high range with locked center differential)
Keeping you on track even in rugged or slippery conditions, the 4HLc
mode distributes power equally to all four wheels for off-road excitement
with a steady sense of control.
4LLc (4WD low range with locked center differential)
Switch to 4LLc when you need all the tractor-like crawling power a
Montero Sport is capable of. Maximized low-end torque pulls you
through even the roughest terrain, stickiest mud and deepest snow.
INVECS-II 5-Speed A/T
Imagine a car so intelligent it changes its personality to match your driving style. The exclusive
INVECS-II studies your driving habits under a variety of conditions and uses two shift control
programs to complement the way you drive. Optimum Shift Control analyzes road conditions
and driving style, instantly comparing them to its vast database of shifting patterns to determine
the best balance of power, control and efficiency. Meanwhile, Adaptive Shift Control studies your
driving style, acceleration and brake timing and learns to anticipate your every move in a range
of driving conditions.
Sportronic Mode:
