popularly changed into Neeld in Lancafhire, and<br />

is changed into Galath, Galat, Gait, and Celt.<br />

And we fee <strong>the</strong> faft direftly exemplified, in <strong>the</strong><br />

Gael <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Continent being univerfally denomi-<br />

nated Galatce and Celtce by <strong>the</strong> Graecians, and<br />

Gallt and Gallta by <strong>the</strong> Irifli. <strong>The</strong> appellations<br />

<strong>the</strong>refore <strong>of</strong> Ga<strong>the</strong>l-i, Gall-i, Galat-as, Calet-es,<br />

An-Calit-es, and Celt-as, are all one and <strong>the</strong><br />

fame denomination, only varied by <strong>the</strong> aftonifhing<br />

du6lility <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Celtic, and only difguifed by<br />

<strong>the</strong> alterations ever incident to a language that<br />

has been merely oral for ages \<br />
