Man <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kelli, Guylh, or Guel, a Wood ; all <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>m <strong>the</strong> eviuent remains <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> antient and obfo-<br />

lete Gnid/nl or Gue/>6el a Wood. And feveral<br />

woods in Wales are aftualiy denominated Cottel<br />

to this day % Coil, <strong>the</strong> fame with <strong>the</strong> Cottel,<br />

<strong>the</strong> Guylh, and <strong>the</strong> Kelli, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Welfli, and an-<br />

fwering to Ga<strong>the</strong>l, Gael, and Gael, is <strong>the</strong> cuf-<br />

tomary term for a Wood among <strong>the</strong> Irilh and<br />

Highlanders at prefent. And Gulad occurs in Gul-<br />

ad-£edhj <strong>the</strong> Welfh for a Woodlander ; Kelyd<br />

appears in Kelydhon, <strong>the</strong> Britilh for Woods ; and<br />

Gelht remains undifguifed in <strong>the</strong> Wellli language<br />

at prefent : all correfponding to Galat, Gait,<br />

Gaeld, and Celt, and all fignifying with <strong>the</strong>m a<br />

Wood. <strong>The</strong> celebrated appellations <strong>the</strong>refore <strong>of</strong><br />

Ga<strong>the</strong>l-i, Galat-ae, Calet-es, An-Calit-es, and<br />

Celtas, all import a Wood only. And bearing<br />

<strong>the</strong> Celtic prefix before <strong>the</strong>m, which is ufed in<br />

<strong>the</strong> antient Hiftory <strong>of</strong> Ireland, as Fir-Bolg and<br />

Fir-Damnon, and which is equally ufed in this<br />

very appellation by <strong>the</strong> Irifli <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> prefent mo-<br />

inent, as Gallta or Fear-Gallta ; <strong>the</strong> denominar<br />
