Welcome to the “Ontario Simmental Weekend” consisting of the Futures’ One Simmental Sale Edition 4 at Destiny Sales 

Facility Saturday Oct 2nd, followed by refreshments, dinner and entertainment at the Bar 5 Sales pavilion. 

On Sunday October 3rd we will hold the Bar 5 Extravaganza VI Female Sale which includes Bar 5 Consignors, The Fleckvieh 

Forum 16th Anniversary Sale as well as the Crimson Tide Fleckvieh Fever ‘10 Sale. We are very pleased to welcome Prospect 

Hill Simmentals to our sale along with our regular consignors which allows us to offer one of the largest Fleckvieh Sales ever. 

Again this year to present an exclusive offering of Fleckvieh cattle we will hold our offering of Angus cattle to our Spring Bull 

and Female Sale. 

This year’s Extravaganza is one of the best offerings ever. Starting with a number of this year’s outstanding calves selected for 

different pedigrees, then a very large selection of bred yearlings which feature offerings from the top of the bred yearling groups. 

We will again offer a group of outstanding donor cows as well as a number of flushes from some of our Elite Females. 

As usual we are offering a couple of mature Herd Sires. We are told because of our snow conditions, our sale in the spring is 

too late for a number of breeders to wait to buy a bull, so we have included a group of this year`s bulls who are showing early 

expression and who have different pedigrees. Two options are available 1. Leave them at Bar 5 and they will be tested and ultra 

sounded and then shipped by the end of January or 2. Take them home now. 

The Agro Zurita herd retained in Canada, is now located at Bar 5. In conjunction with Agro Zurita we will breed, flush, and 

sell progeny of some of the very best South African Fleckvieh genetics. Please visit our pastures and see these outstanding Cows 

and Herd Sires. 

Our cattle have a very large influence of South African genetics and at least one of our breeders has been testing for feed 

efficiency using DNA technology and finding that his Fleckvieh herd has very good feed efficiency. Furthermore, he found 

that the South African Flechvieh were even better. In many places in South Africa feed is not plentiful, so they have to be more 

efficient. 

As of this writing, we have had a great summer, lots of rain, plenty of sunshine and heat so you should find the farm and 

surroundings in good shape.

Verification, all animals are RFID tagged with age and form 

verification. 

Insurance - Bar 5 Simmental Farms recommends animals 

bought at the sale are insured after purchase with your current 

insurance company. 

DNA Parent Verification - All Bar 5 cattle are DNA verified 

to both the Sire and Dam. We believe in two responsibilities 

deeply; 1) Genetic Integrity & 2) Genetic Improvement. 

Transportation - Bar 5 will arrange for trucking to your farm 

or a central point; the following normal charges will apply 

unless the buyer wishes to take care of shipping themselves: 

Local $50, Ottawa Valley $150, Quebec $200, Maritimes 

$250, Manitoba $200, Saskatchewan & Alberta $250, and 

u.S.A. $300 plus Export fees. 

Your purchase may stay here free of charge until November 

1, then a fee of $4.00 per day will apply. 

TERMS & CONdITIONS 

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par 

at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have 

been made previous to the sale. ALL CHEQuES SHALL BE 

MADE PAYABLE TO BAR 5 STOCK FARMS. No sale 

will be considered valid until and unless payment made out 

to BAR 5 STOCK FARMS is received and cleared. The right 

of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Bar 

5 Stock Farms reserve full power to resell the animal to the 

best advantage either publicly or privately, without further 

notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep 

and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. 

ALL SETTLEMENTS MUST BE MAdE WITH 

THE CLERK`S OF THE SALE BEFORE ANY 

CATTLE WILL BE RELEASEd. 

Bid: Every animal consigned to the sale will be sold by 

auction to highest bidder. 

disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened 

between the parties involved if no further bid is made, the 

buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted 

the last bid. The Auctioneer`s decision in such matters will be 

final. The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from 

anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or 

who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale. 

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the 

purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the 

purchaser`s risk for a reasonable length of time. 

Announcements: Announcements from the auction block 

will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalogue. 

Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to such 

announcements. 

Certificate of Registry: The proper Registration or 

Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred 

and furnished. 

BREEdER’S GUARANTEE 

Females: Cows represented as being “pregnancy tested, 

safe in calf” have been examined and declared by a licensed

veterinarian and will be accompanied by a veterinarian’s 

certificate to the effect. They are considered breeders 

without further guarantee. Cows with calves at side shall 

be considered breeders also without further guarantee; cows 

and heifers represented at “bred” are not guaranteed safe 

in calf but they are open heifers selling as individual lots 

are guaranteed to be breeders. No guarantee shall apply to 

sucking calves. In the event a female is claimed to be a nonbreeder, 

after having been bred regularly to a bull known 

to be a breeder and after having been treated by a licensed 

veterinarian, the matter must be reported in writing to the 

seller within six (6) months of sale date. For heifers under 

twelve (12) months of age and purchased as a single lots and 

who fail to conceive to the services of a bull known to be a 

breeder, the matter must be reported in writing to the seller 

before the heifer reaches eighteen (18) months of age. The 

seller shall have six (6) additional months in which to prove 

any such female a breeder and may use any registered bull 

of the breed available to him. Any female returned will be at 

the purchaser’s risk. No guarantee is given that a pregnant 

female will deliver live calves nor that she will carry calves 

full term not that the calf carried will not be mummified. The 

seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies 

after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at 

sale time. 

Exception to Guarantee: In cases where the animal is 

subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques 

after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. 

Settlement: TRANSPORTATIONS CHARGES ON 

ANIMALS RETuRNED TO THE SELLER ARE FOR 

ACCOuNT OF THE PuRCHASER. No incidental expenses 

such as feed, A.I. signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, 

etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. 

If the seller is successful in proving the animal a breeder, the 

said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. 

Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then 

the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement, F.O.B. 

ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual purchase 

price paid F.O.B. selling point. In no event shall the seller 

by responsible for more than the purchase price. Should a 

dispute arise over the quality of the replacement animal, the 

Sales Management will appoint a mediator. 

Health: All animals will have passed the required tests as 

determined by Agriculture Canada at sale location. It is the 

buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for 

importing any animal into his province, state or country. 

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to 

protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Owners, 

sales Management, nor Staff, assume any responsibility in 

this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in 

the event of accident or loss of property. 

Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions 

of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer 

and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of 

animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a 

separate transaction and the rights and obligations of both 

parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and 

conditions of this sale.

Imported cattle, which made them ineffective for most of our herd. More recently CSA have included ET’s and assign average

Each fall sale we sell a couple of mature bulls and this year is no exception. We are adding some bull calves that are already 

showing some expression. We receive comments each year that our bull sale is too late in the Spring for breeders to wait for 

a young bull, so here is an opportunity to bring new exciting genetics to your herd. If the buyer wants to enter the bull in 

our Test Station, for a cost of $800 (including ultra sound) we will have him shipped by February 15th, or alternatively take him 

home now. 

The following bulls have been entered in the Royal Winter Fair, November 2010 and The North American International 

Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, November 11, 2010. If the new owner wants us to show them, we will at our 

expense. The buyer must insure all animals after the sale if we are going to remain in possession until after the shows.
