Luxury Wooden Chess Sets from the English Chess Company
The English Chess Company has set new standards of excellence in chess
set design and manufacture. The English Chess Company commissioned the
finest craftsmen from the Indian city of Amritsar, where chess sets have been
carved for hundreds of years, to produce five distinctive and elegant sets.
All English Chess Company sets are handmade by award-winning craftsmen,
the chessmen come with leather bases as standard, with the king’s leather
base bearing the mark of the English Chess Company in gold-coloured
lettering. All English Chess Company sets are triple-weighted and come with
two extra Queens. The sets also include a certificate of authenticity, complete
with craftsmen’s seal, making them sets to treasure.
COMBATANT STAUNTON CHESSMEN £299
The craftsmen have combined traditional and contemporary elements into a unique
and beautiful set. The knight’s mane and head collar are the most stunning features,
intricately hand carved while the other pieces have a more rounded edge.

ALEXANDRE 1860 CHESSMEN £299
These exquisite chessmen are hand carved by master artisans and crafted out of the
highest grade Bud Rosewood and Boxwood. The design is based on one that was popular
in the late 19th century. The pieces, especially the Knight, have a sleek, stylish
look and a comfortable feel. Height of King: 4"/102mm. Base Diameter: 1.6”/40mm.
Weight of King: 98g. Available in Bud Rosewood or Ebony (pictured).
