The invention discloses a method for generating and a<br />
generator of time series with very large periods and high<br />
complexity. The time series generation is based on the<br />
iteration of functions from a special class of functions,<br />
namely piecewise linear functions where each line<br />
segment has multiplicative coefficients represented by<br />
powers of 2 only, such that all operations can be<br />

performed easily and fast on small microcontrollers that<br />
do not have an included multiplier. The generator can<br />
simultaneously iterate two or several such functions and<br />
combine the results such that to increase the complexity of<br />
the generated time series.<br />
Applications: Embedded systems, sonar echolocation,<br />
measuring equipment (noise generators), communication<br />
systems, spread-spectrum communication, data security<br />
