Set Up and Registration Process<br />

Welcome!<br />

Congratulations on buying a <strong>Sony</strong> <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong>!<br />

There are 3 steps to start using the Quickflix service;<br />

1. Connect your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player to the internet<br />

2. Register your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player<br />

3. Create a Quickflix account<br />

This should only take a few minutes and then it’s free movies on us for a month!<br />

Step 1: Connect to the internet (Wired)<br />

To enjoy internet content from the <strong>Sony</strong> Entertainment Network, including movies, music, games and more, connect your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong> to a broadband internet connection<br />

via a router. Depending on your home network and location of your player, wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired home networks can be used.<br />

Wired Connection (connecting your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> player to a router using a network cable)<br />

Before setting up the player, ensure your router and home network is set-up and functioning as directed by the manufacturer and/or your Internet Service provider. Connect a<br />

network cable (not supplied) from the router to the LAN port on back of the player.<br />

Turn on the <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player. Using the remote, press HOME, then select > Network Settings > Internet Settings.<br />

1. Select “Wired Set-up” within the “Internet Settings” menu.<br />

2. Select “Auto” in IP Proxy Server screen.*<br />

3. Confirm settings, and then select “Save & Connect”.<br />

4. Once connection is successful, press “OK”.<br />

5. The <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player is now connected to the internet.<br />

Step 1: Connect to the internet (Wireless)<br />

Connecting to a wireless home network<br />

Wireless LAN Ready and Wi-Fi Integrated set-up<br />

Wireless LAN Ready models (BDPS380 & BDPS480) can access the Internet and your home network with the optional USB Wireless LAN adapter (model, UWA-BR100). If you’re using a Wi-<br />

Fi integrated model (BDPS580 & BDPS780) the USB adaptor is not required.<br />

Before setting up the <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player, ensure your wireless router and home network is set-up and functioning as directed by the manufacturer and/or your Internet Service<br />

provider.<br />

Wireless Connection (connecting your player to a Wi-Fi enabled home network)<br />

Turn on the <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player. Using the remote, press HOME, then select > Network Settings > Internet Settings.<br />

1. Select “Wireless Set-up” within the “Internet Settings” menu. Model dependent, choose built-in or USB wireless setup.<br />

2. Select “Scan” in the “Wireless Network” screen.¹<br />

3. After a few moments, you will see a list of wireless networks.<br />

4. Navigate to, and select, your home network. Refer to your wireless router manual if you do not know the name of your network.<br />

5. Enter your security Key when prompted, using the remote and onscreen keyboard. If you do not know your security key, refer to your wireless router manual.<br />

6. Select “Auto” in the “IP Address Proxy Server” screen.*<br />

7. Confirm settings, and then select “Save & Connect.”<br />

8. After connection is successful, press “OK”.<br />

9. The player is now connected to your home network and internet.<br />

¹Many new routers offer Wi-Fi protected Set-up (WPS).If your router has WPS, select WPS (Push Button) or WPS (PIN) in this step, and follow the onscreen instructions. Refer to the<br />

wireless router manual for instructions on how to use this feature.<br />

Step 2: Register your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong><br />

This is required in order to link your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player to the Quickflix streaming service.<br />

a) Using your remote control, press the HOME<br />

button and go to "Video” and then scroll and select<br />

the “Quickflix" channel.<br />

b) Take note of the 4 digit registration code that is<br />

displayed on the screen<br />

Important: your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc player must be connected<br />

to an active internet connection to complete this step<br />

c) From your computer register the <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong><br />

on https://internet.sony.tv. If this is the first time you<br />

have registered a <strong>Sony</strong> Internet TV or <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc<br />

player you’ll need to create an account. Upon<br />

completion of step 2, your PC web browser should<br />

automatically redirect to the Quickflix sign-up page.<br />

But if this doesn't happen go to www.quickflix.com.au.<br />

Step 3: Create your Quickflix account<br />

If you’re already a Quickflix subscriber, simply sign-in and enter the Quickflix promotion code from the flyer that was in your <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong><br />

Disc <strong>Player</strong> box to activate the 1 free month of the streaming service. Otherwise create an account and enter your promotion code<br />

when asked to do so.<br />

Now, all you have to do is choose which movie you want to watch from the continually growing catalogue of movies available<br />

directly from the Quickflix service on your <strong>Sony</strong> <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong>.<br />

Terms & Conditions<br />

<strong>Promotion</strong>al period is 3 November 2011– 29 February 2012. You must be 18+ years to claim. One claim per household. Offer available on all 2011 <strong>Sony</strong> <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong>s<br />

purchased from an authorised <strong>Sony</strong> <strong>Australia</strong>n dealer. Keep your receipt. Offer is for a 1 month subscription to the Quickflix online streaming service. Available titles subject to<br />

change. Eligible claimants must follow the instructions on this flyer to connect their <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong> to an active Internet connection, register their device with a <strong>Sony</strong> My<br />

Essentials account (at https://internet.sony.tv) which will include providing personal and proof of purchase details, link the device to the Quickflix service (for online service) and<br />

activate a Quickflix subscription using the promotional code before 15 March 2012. Claimants may be required to provide proof of purchase and other verification details. Offer will<br />

only be awarded following any claimant validation and verification that the Promoter requires in its sole discretion. Valid credit card details must be supplied to Quickflix. Quickflix<br />

will validate credit cards with a test transaction of 1 cent which will result in available credit being reduced by this amount. It will normally take 5-10 days for the validation amount<br />

to be re-adjusted on a user’s credit card account. Broadband connection required with a minimum download speed of 2.5 Mbps recommended. Users are responsible for Internet<br />

connection and usage costs. Where the online streaming service is not available at the time of redemption, the claimant’s subscription will be deferred. Claimants will be notified by<br />

Quickflix to complete registration requirements to activate this service as soon as it becomes available. If the online streaming service remains unavailable at 1/2/12, claimants will<br />

have access to the Quickflix rental DVD postal service for 1 month automatically commencing on 1/2/12 (for valid claims made before 1/2/12) or from the date of subscription to the<br />

Quickflix service (for valid claims made after 1/2/12). If the online streaming service becomes available during the time that a claimant is receiving the DVD rental service, claimants<br />

will be notified that they can activate the online streaming service for the remainder of their bonus 1 month subscription and the DVD rental service will cease. Rental service allows<br />

claimants to rent an unlimited number of DVDs available on the Quickflix service (user can rent only 1 title (disc) at a time), subject to mail delivery. DVDs are mailed to a claimant’s<br />

postal address. Terms & Conditions of Use apply at www.quickflix.com.au/termsandconditions. At the end of the subscription term, claimants will automatically roll over to a paying<br />

plan of up to $14.99 per month on the valid credit card number supplied at the time of activating the subscription, unless claimants actively cancel prior to the end of the<br />

BDP-S580 <strong>Blu</strong>-<strong>ray</strong> Disc <strong>Player</strong>s only. <strong>Sony</strong> UWA-BR100 Wireless LAN Adapter sold separately.<br />
