almost exclusively from <strong>Icel<strong>and</strong></strong> but owing to the falling <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>f <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the producti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> good<br />

As I hold the <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> president <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Royal Society <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> L<strong>on</strong>d<strong>on</strong>, the oldest scientific<br />
society in this Kingdom, I hope your Excellency will excuse me for troubling you <strong>on</strong> a<br />
matter <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> scientific importance, possibly also <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> some s<strong>light</strong> commercial interest to your<br />
country.<br />
This mineral known as calcite is much used by scientific men for instruments<br />
employed in investigati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>and</strong> lectures relating to polarised <strong>light</strong>. This mineral is<br />
comm<strong>on</strong> enough: but it has nowhere, to my knowledge, been found in large, clear,<br />
