SAFEWALK PROGRAM<br />
A computer is available with voice recognition<br />
software allowing users to talk to the computer<br />
rather than use a keyboard. A scanner and voice<br />
output software convert printed text to synthesized<br />
speech. This technology is located in the<br />
MAX Center, (651) 696-6121. A closed-captioned<br />
videocassette recorder is available through Media<br />

EMERGENCY EVACUATION<br />
Persons with disabilities should become familiar<br />
with the areas they occupy and develop a twoperson<br />
buddy system, if needed. In the event of<br />
an emergency, request assistance, if needed, in<br />
moving to an exit or to a safe area (usually a stairwell).<br />
Send one buddy to notify the firefighters,<br />
police, or campus security staff of your location.<br />
