7 Measured coin values and channel values
This chapter briefly describes the measuring principle of the G-13.mft and
then the comparison between the measured values of the coins inserted into
the G-13.mft and the channel values configured in the memory block of the
G-13.mft.
Measuring principle of the G-13.mft
Coins inserted into the G-13.mft pass sensors which check the coins and
there they generate individual measurement values. Due to the special
design and arrangement of these sensors, each coin is checked for its
material properties and dimensions. A so-called acceptance band which
consists of an upper limit value and a lower limit value is stored for each coin
type to ensure that the G-13.mft knows whether to accept a coin or not. If the
measured values of a coin are within the acceptance band, the coin is
accepted for sale as soon as it has passed the acceptance gate, but if the
measured values exceed the acceptance band the coin is rejected and
directed into the return area.
To improve the rejection of false coins, up to three coin channels with
different acceptance band widths can be assigned to the same coin type:
• normal coin channel (low channel number) with wide acceptance
band for the highest possible acceptance of genuine coins
• if necessary, narrow coin channel (higher/highest channel number)
with narrower acceptance band for improved rejection of false coins
• if necessary, very narrow coin channel (highest channel number) with
extremely narrowed acceptance band for the highest rejection of false
coins but with still acceptable acceptance of genuine coins
For most coin types, two coin channels – one normal and one narrow – are
configured. Which coin type is programmed in which coin channel and
which channel accepts which coin is displayed on the "Settings" screen.
