GLOSSARY 154 WinEMP – G-13.mft Backup file Files saved onto the hard disk of your PC with WinEMP which can be called up via the menu item → "Restore" and which can restore any configuration state of the device connected saved with WinEMP. In order that you have access to all settings, the G-13.mft must always be connected to the same PC. Channel → Coin channel Coin acceptance band → Acceptance band Coin acceptance limit → Acceptance limit Coin acceptance time Time during which the CP3 or CP4 sensor may be covered (by a coin) at most so that a coin acceptance is transmitted. If a coin acceptance time is exceeded (e.g. due to tampering or a foreign body), the G-13.mft sends an error signal to the machine and coin acceptance is inhibited until the sensor is no longer covered. Coin channel A coin channel or its acceptance band serves the purpose of accepting → coin types with the same → coin properties. A coin channel is assigned different functions and information, which describe how an accepted coin will be processed (→ coin signal line or → coin value, sorting, etc.). Coin impulse length By defining a certain impulse length with which the → coin impulses are sent from the G-13.mft with parallel standard interface to the vending machine, the G-13.mft can be matched to the specific processing time of the respective vending machine. Coin impulse number Each coin accepted by the G-13.mft with parallel standard interface sends at least one impulse to vending machine control system on the appropriate → coin signal line. An impulse tells the vending machine control system that a coin has been accepted. In principle, 255 impulses per coin can be assigned to the → coin channel that is assigned to a coin. However, it only makes sense to assign more than 1 if the vending machine control system does not have sufficient coin signal lines and if higher-value coins are inserted, these coins have to be simulated for the vending machine control system by a number of coin impulses, i.e. when e.g. a 2 Euro coin is inserted, 4 coin impulses would be sent to the vending machine control system via the coin signal line allocated to the 50 cent coin. WinEMP – G-13.mft National Rejectors, Inc. GmbH, Buxtehude GLOSSARY Coin properties Coin properties that are measured by the G-13.mft when a coin is inserted. These are e.g. material, thickness, volume, minting, diameter, mass, hardness, etc. Coin signal line The → coin impulses assigned to the → coin types are transmitted via six coin signal lines from the G-13.mft with parallel standard interface to the vending machine. To ensure that the machine can distinguish the various → coin types with respect to their values, you can use WinEMP to define which coin type is sent via which coin signal line(s) of the connecting cable. Coin type One coin type includes all coins with identical → coin properties. Coin value The value of a → coin type which has to be sent to the vending machine: via the parallel standard interface by means of → coin impulses and specific signal lines, via the MDB/S1 interface as a value and via the cctalk interface with the help of a specific cctalk output 1–16. The G-13.mft totalizers add the coin value of the coins inserted as credit until the credit reaches the set price. Common inhibit line If the common inhibit signal line of the G-13.mft with parallel interface is activated by the vending machine, coin acceptance is blocked. No coin is accepted. Data block download When downloading data blocks using WinEMP the data blocks of the G-13.mft connected are updated quickly and easily. In doing so, new data blocks are loaded into the memory of the connected device. The new data blocks can contain a different configuration of → coin channel data, e.g. current limit values of the → acceptance bands for a coin type already programmed or information for a new coin type. ECV Electronic coin validator ECV totalizer Totalizer model which differs from the standard totalizer model in a vending machine interface with another pin assignment. The G-13.mft ECV totalizers are especially designed for the vending machines of the Italian market. Group inhibiting With single block data-management, using the first eight DIL switches of the upper → switching block on the G-13.mft, it is possible to inhibit → coin types individually or as a group on site, i.e. they are not accepted for payment at the vending machine. With the aid of WinEMP the DIL switches can be assigned individual coin types or coin groups to be inhibited. 155
