3.6.4.2 Arrangements after a long-term standstill (shutdown) / recommissioning (more<br />

than 6 months):<br />

• Check the charge of battery and recharge if necessary. Consider the specifications of the battery manufacturer.<br />

• Check anti-freeze protection and level of the cooling water and refill if applicable.<br />

• Drain engine oil. Renew oil filter and oil according specification.<br />

• Remove preservation agent of the engine with petroleum.<br />

• Degrease the v-belt pulleys and install v-belt correctly. Check v-belt tension!<br />

• Disconnect turbocharger oil pressure line if existent and refill clean motor oil in pipe.<br />

• Keep engine shut-off lever in 0-position and turn engine several times by hand.<br />

• Clean air filter housing with petroleum, check air filter and renew if necessary.<br />

• Remove covers of the exhaust opening and the suction holes.<br />

• Connect battery. Close battery main switch.<br />

• Install impeller.<br />

• Open sea cock.<br />

• Check sea water filter.<br />

• Keep shut-off lever at generator in 0-position and activate starter for approx. 10 sec. Make a break for 10 sec. and<br />

repeat procedure twice.<br />

• Visual inspection of the generator according to initial operation and start generator.<br />

Fischer Panda recommendation:<br />

After a long-term standstill a complete 150 h inspection<br />

according to inspection schedule should be carried out.<br />
