7. Generator Failure<br />

7.1 Personal requirements<br />

The work described here, unless otherwise indicated, are performed by the operator.<br />

More repair work may be performed only by specially trained personnel or by authorized repair shops (Fischer<br />

Panda service points). This is especially for working on the valve timing, fuel injection system and the engine repair.<br />

7.2 Hazard notes for the troubleshooting<br />

Follow the general safety instruction at the front of this manual.<br />

Danger for life! - The generator can be equipped with an automatic<br />

start device. This means the generator can be started by<br />

an external signal. To avoid an unexpected starting of the generator,<br />

the starter battery must be disconnected before start<br />

working at the generator.<br />

Working at a running generator can result in severe personal<br />

injury. Therefore before starting work at the generator:<br />

Make sure that the generator is stopped and the starter battery is disconnected<br />

to guarantee that the generator cannot be inadvertently started.<br />

Do not run the generator with removed sound isolation cover.<br />

Improper installation/maintenance can result in severe personal<br />

injuries or material damage.<br />

• Always undertake installation/maintenance work when the<br />

generator is switched off.<br />

• Ensure there is sufficient installation clearance before start<br />

working.<br />

• Ensure tidiness and cleanliness at the workplace. Loose<br />

components and tools lying around or on top of each other<br />

are sources of accidents.<br />

• Only perform installation work using commercially available<br />

tools and special tools. incorrect or damaged tools can result<br />

injuries.<br />

Oil and fuel vapours can ignite on contact with ignition<br />

sources. Therefore:<br />

• No open flames during work on the generator.<br />

• Do not smoke.<br />

• Remove oil and fuel residues from the generator and floor.<br />
