6.10 Verifying the starter battery and (if necessary) the battery bank<br />
Check the condition of the battery. Proceed here as prescribed by the battery manufacturer.<br />
If from the battery manufacturer not otherwise mentioned.<br />
6.10.1 Battery<br />
6.10.1.1 Check battery and cable connections<br />
• Keep battery clean and dry.<br />
• Remove dirty clamps.<br />
• Clean terminal posts (+ and -) and clamps of the battery,<br />
and grease with acid-free and acid-resistant grease.<br />
• When reassembling, ensure that clamps make good contact.<br />
Tighten clamp bolts hand-tight.<br />
6.10.1.2 Check electrolyte level<br />
• Remove sealing caps 1.<br />
• If testers 2 are present:<br />
• Electrolyte level should reach the base of these.<br />
• Without testers:<br />
The electrolyte level should be 10-15 mm above the top of<br />
the plates.<br />
• If necessary, top up with distilled water.<br />
• Screw sealing caps back in.<br />
