Care and maintenance
Care hints
Take care of your valuables. When water dries, it leaves behind ugly calcium stains.
Remove water drops after use with a soft cloth or chamois leather.
Caring for plated and powder-coated surfaces
Cleaning. Abrasive, caustic or acidic cleaners (such as cleaners containing acetic
acid) must never be used to clean surfaces. Microfibre cloths and household
sponges with a scouring pad also attack the finish.
Protective maintenance keeps the fi nish. A thin protective film should be applied
regularly. Painted and plated surfaces (gold, champagne, Durabrass, platinum,
chrome, matt white): We recommend regular application of a protective film with
the D-Care care set.
Maintenance hints
Decalcifying. Calcium and dirt stains in the aerator or shower disks can easily
be removed. Use an installation wrench to remove the aerator. Gently knock out
the strainers and place them in a vinegar bath to soak. Afterwards, rinse them
thoroughly in a soap solution.
Unrestricted fl ow. If any water remaining on an unrestricted flow fitting after use is
not removed with a cloth, deposits may form. This is not obvious when the fitting
has an aerator, as the water is held back after use by the aerator insert. But over
time, corresponding signs may also become apparent. So greater care needs to be
taken of fittings that do not have an aerator.
Service it yourself. Angle valves and wall valves should be closed and opened
at least once a quarter. Once a month, operate the thermostats over the entire
temperature range with the water at full flow, to ensure that the control cartridges
continue to function properly.
Caution: Under no circumstances must you take the thermostat apart. The entire
system should be serviced professionally once a year by your specialist fitter.
A service and maintenance brochure is enclosed with your fitting. This contains
additional, helpful tips designed to increase the life-expectancy of your
Villeroy & Boch fitting and your pleasure in it.
