In addition to an array of original
equipment, Ryan has faithfully
recreated exact replicas of items such
as the team’s signature light helmets.
To do so, he took molds of an original,
and fabricated the replicas using the
same materials and manufacturing
technique that would have been used
by the original manufacturer.
Eventually, Ryan hopes to send his
collection to a museum. He believes
that in time, the historic value of these
artifacts will be more widely appreciated,
and his preservation efforts will allow
future generations to connect with the
original Cousteau legacy.
point where a lot of things that were just old
are now becoming historical.”
- Ryan Spence of Flashback Scuba
the chance to meet fellow collectors face
to face and show off their gear, it’s also
the ability to dive it where others can see
