OYSTER 66 VOODOO
After display at the London Boat
show, where she was the largest
sailing yacht on show, the Oyster
66, VOODOO, returned to Ipswich
for a mid February handover to
owner John Edwards - not
something to be undertaken lightly
given the typical UK weather at this
time of the year. Following
John Edwards handover, VOODOO set sail for the
warmer climate of Palma, Mallorca,
before sailing on to her base for this summer in Monaco. VOODOO is
planning to join the UBS Oyster Regatta in Palma later in the year,
before crossing the Atlantic to the Carribbean. Plans for 2005 include
a Pacific passage back to John's homeport of Australia.
As a keen rugby player and supporter, John enjoyed
a significant amount of banter with the build crew of
his boat about the Rugby World Cup. To celebrate
the English win, the build crew presented John with
a special the T-shirt. The wording on the shirt
reads "We hope you enjoy VOODOO as much as
we enjoyed Johnny..." As you can see John
accepted this with true Australian humour
and style.
Oyster 82 Cygnus
OYSTER 82 CYGNUS
Despite the bitingly cold December day, the
first new Oyster 82 to hit the water, CYGNUS,
was launched amid much anticipation and
excitement at Oyster's Southampton Yacht
Services Yard, in readiness for her première
at the Düsseldorf boat show.
Built for her UK owner, his third new Oyster
yacht, CYGNUS will spend the next few
weeks being commissioned before being
shown at Oyster's Private View at St
Katharine's Dock, London. She will then be
leaving the UK for the warmer waters of the
Mediterranean.
CYGNUS, the largest sailing yacht on display
at the Düsseldorf show, was designed by
Rob Humphreys and the Oyster Design Team
and features a stunning mahogany interior,
conceived and styled by Oyster's Chris Lock,
and finished to the highest standards by the
renowned SYS joinery shop. CYGNUS
attracted much attention and admiration at
the show, where there was a steady queue of
visitors to the stand each day.
We look forward to seeing CYGNUS at some
of the Oyster Regattas in the future, where
she will make a very welcome addition to the
regatta fleet.
