GETTING A LIFT
Fox’s Marina on Suffolk’s beautiful River Orwell is the Oyster home
base and, although no new yacht construction takes place on site,
all new Oysters are rigged, tested and commissioned here.
Fox’s was the first yard in the area to install a travel lift and, following
Oyster's acquisition of the marina in 1985, a second hoist was
installed. To enable the yard to handle the new Oyster 82 and the
upcoming 72, which are both too wide for the original lift dock, a
totally new lift dock has just been commissioned and a new travel lift
installed. Oysters are not the only yachts to make use of Fox’s
facilities, since a wide range of yachts and small commercial vessels
are always on site for repairs, refits, spray painting, osmosis
treatments, rigging and electronic upgrades. Non-Oyster owners are
welcome and over 200 vessels regularly winter ashore in Fox’s care.

Westerbeke
and Surrette
to support
US Regatta
Westerbeke, the US maker of
generators, and Surrette, suppliers to
Oyster of batteries, have joined Raymarine,
Pelagos Yachts and Cruising World as sponsors of the inaugural
Oyster USA Regatta, to be held out of Newport, Rhode Island from
10-13 June. Entries are coming in and we welcome enquiries from
any owners who will be in the area and would like to take part.

appointments and staff changes that have all taken place

JOHN MUNNS
Well known to many owners, John
was our Commissioning Manager
before taking off to sail the world
with his wife Ira as the skipper of an
Oyster 80. John has been managing
Fox’s Marina and is now rejoining
Oyster to take charge of an "under
wraps" new yacht project that will
be announced later this year!
STEPHEN PARKINSON
With over 16,000 miles as a skipper and crew under his belt,
Stephen joins us as our new After Sales Assistant with a wealth of
blue water sailing experience, having most recently participated in
the 2002 ARC. During that event, Stephen played a key role in the
May Day operation resulting from a fatal man overboard incident
on another yacht.
KIM SOMERVILLE
Joining us as our new Assistant
After Sales Manager, Kim is no
stranger to us as her father is on
his third Oyster!
HAMISH BURGESS-SIMPSON
Formerly in charge of warranty, Hamish
continues as second in command of
After Sales, but will use his very
considerable depth of experience to
look behind warranty and unscheduled
maintenance issues and operate as our
Technical Consultant. He will also be
responsible for our Customer Care
Programme and introducing the
new Maintenance Log system for
Oyster yachts.
HOLLY NEILSON
Our new Sales Secretary has joined us from Linklaters.
Holly sails on an Oyster Smack but we don’t expect it
will be long before she gets a taste for our kind
of Oyster.
PETER BIRD joins the busy Oyster in-house
Design Team, and has a depth of experience. He has
worked in the USA with Robb Ladd, Trinity Yachts,
and more recently with Seaway Group in Slovenia.
