Joe Cappo Limited Engagement<br />

The News-Sentinel, July 1, <strong>1936</strong><br />

Joe Cappo and His Egyptian Serenaders are playing a limited<br />

engagement at the Fairview Hotel, Lake Manitou, which is open for<br />

dancing every night and each Sunday and Holiday afternoon.<br />

Mr. Cappo, known as the first leader in the United States to<br />

feature an accordion, is a youthful Latin whose music combines the soft<br />

and sweet strains of his Italian heritage with the snap and swing popular<br />

with dancing Americans today.<br />

Headliners with his unit are Lois Laurie and Monty Greeness,<br />

vocalists. Miss Laurie will be remembered as a feature singer with<br />

Jimmy Garrigan and His Orchestra in Chicago, and Mr. Greeness as a<br />

member of Don Bestors Orchestra.<br />

KEWANNA COOP CREAMERY<br />

Claude Weller, Named Manager<br />

The News-Sentinel, July 3, <strong>1936</strong><br />

Claude Weller has assumed the duties of manager of the<br />

Kewanna Co-operative Creamery which was made vacant by the<br />

resignation of Walter Wilson who has held the position ever since the<br />

creamery has been in operation. Mr. Wilson, former county surveyor,<br />

gave up the position so that he might devote his entire time to looking<br />

after his farm interests. Mr. Weller is an experienced creamery<br />

operator.<br />

In Limerick Contest<br />

Mrs. Ted Olson received word yesterday that she was the winner<br />

of a table radio in a limerick contest conducted by the Camay Soap<br />

Company.<br />

ERIE RAILROAD PRESIDENT<br />

Visits Lake Manitou<br />

C.E. Denny, Cleveland, Ohio, president of the Chicago and Erie<br />

railroad and Mrs. Denny are spending the week end at Lake Manitou<br />

and at Lake Maxinkuckee.<br />

The private car of the railroad executive was spotted in the local<br />
