Purchases New Cabin Airplane<br />

The News-Sentinel, March. 19, <strong>1936</strong><br />

Miss Helen House, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Walter House of this<br />

city, flew her own plane from the South Bend airport to the Rochester<br />

field Wednesday morning. Another army ship was piloted by Lieut.<br />

Wayne Martin, of Indianapolis, accompanied Miss House on her flight<br />

from the up-state city.<br />

Miss House, who is Rochesters first lady flyer, received her<br />

commercial pilots license several weeks ago. She is a graduate of the<br />

Rudy Vandiver School of Aviation of South Bend. Her new plane is a<br />

three-place Curtis Robin cabin monoplane model. The Rochester<br />

aviatrix will fly her ship to the South Bend airport Saturday, where she<br />

is furthering her education in commercial aviation.<br />

AKRON GRADE SCHOOL BLDG.<br />

Declared unsafe and dangerous<br />

The News-Sentinel, March. 21, <strong>1936</strong><br />

Inspectors from the State Fire Marshalls office recently made a<br />

tour of inspection of the three school buildings in Henry township, the<br />

result being that the Grade school building in Akron was declared<br />

unsafe and dangerous.<br />

The Fire Marshall was emphatic in his belief that Akron citizens<br />

should take steps immediately to house the students in a different<br />

building. Until that building can be secured, however, the inspector has<br />

written that certain improvements must be made on the present<br />

building. He found the Akron High School building and the building at<br />

Athens in good condition.<br />

ZELLERS, LOUISE<br />

To Observe 90th Birthday<br />

The News-Sentinel, March. 24, <strong>1936</strong><br />

In reviewing the interesting history of the life of Louise Aunt<br />

Lide Zellers, it was disclosed she has been a resident of Kewanna for<br />

over 65 years. She is the last member of a family of 15 children, six<br />

girls and nine boys born to John and Elizabeth Moyers. Her father was<br />

born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Tennessee, both were<br />

of German descent. Aunt Lide was born on March 26th, 1846 in the<br />

Lake Bruce community.<br />

Her parents, the Moyers, settled on a tract of land three miles<br />
