Education Without Limits is a nonprofit
organization founded by chapter member
Katherine Ouk. The organization is dedicated
to raising funds to build a school in
KarKo village, in the Prey Veng province of
Cambodia. The school will have eight classrooms,
books, supplies, desks, chairs and
most of all, teachers to serve the 400 area
children who have been denied the basic necessities
of life and learning. The project is
Katherine’s dream to honor her parents and
relatives who were tortured and murdered
there 30 years ago when the Khmer Rouge
gained control of Cambodia and began to
eliminate education, as well the people who
spoke out against them. Katherine, herself a
survivor of this tragedy, is a U.S. citizen and
teacher who wishes to give the gift of a future
to these devastated children. Ohio Eta

Chapter has undertaken the support of her altruistic efforts and presented her with a $500 check at a fundraising benefit
auction.

2001-2003 ADK-ITE scholar Eli Arevalo-Guerrero, Marbella, Spain, was initiated into
Alpha Delta Kappa September 16, 2010. Eli was awarded her master of arts degree from the
University of Maryland-Baltimore County in Intercultural Communications in December
2003. She continued her studies and received her Ph.D. in May 2009. Eli’s co-sponsors were
Past International Executive Board Chairman Ellen M. Roderick, Maryland Beta Chapter,
and Evelyn Weicker, Maryland Alpha Chapter.

Michigan Lambda and Beta Gamma Chapters met together in April 2010 for a slide
presentation of Lambda Chapter member Lynda Campbell’s recent trip to Africa. “Lynda’s
presentation was particularly interesting,” said Beta Gamma member Jo Grindem.

Kentucky Alpha Iota Chapter is combining
the ADK missions of world understanding
and altruism. At the 2010 Southeast Regional
Conference in Kingsport, Tennessee, sister
Carol Beth Mooneyhan purchased six copies of
the book “What Does It Mean to Be Global?” In
celebration of Alpha Delta Kappa Month, sisters
presented one of these books to each of the six
elementary schools in Shelby County. At Kentucky’s Fall Leadership meeting, Carol encouraged each Kentucky chapter
to follow suit and donate at least one book to the elementary schools in their areas.
